Privacy policy
How Wet My Plants collects, uses, and protects personal data under the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP/revDSG) and, where EU/EEA customers are served, the GDPR.
Data controller
The controller within the meaning of the revFADP and the GDPR is Wet My Plants GmbH, Musterstrasse 1, 8000 Zürich, Switzerland. Direct data-protection requests to privacy@wetmyplants.ch. EU representative under GDPR Art. 27: Muster EU Representative Ltd., Musterstraße 1, 10115 Berlin, Germany.
Categories of data we collect
Account and order data (name, shipping address, email, phone), device and telemetry data from Master Pebble and the valve gang (watering schedules, soil/weather readings, diagnostics), and payment data processed by our payment provider.
We process this data to fulfil your order, run your customer account, operate and improve the product, and meet legal obligations. We only collect what is necessary for the given purpose.
Cookies & tracking pixels
Essential storage (your cart, language, and consent choice) is always active — the site can't work without it. Nothing else loads until you choose: analytics is a self-hosted Plausible instance (no cookies, no cross-site tracking, anonymised), and marketing uses the Meta Pixel. Both load only after you opt in via the consent banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.
We use technically necessary cookies for the cart and session. Analytics and advertising cookies (e.g. from our analytics provider) are only set after your explicit consent via our cookie banner; you can withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.
Legal basis for processing
We rely on contract performance (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), your consent (lit. a), our legitimate interests (lit. f), and legal obligations (lit. c). Under the revFADP, processing is carried out in good faith and proportionately to the respective purpose.
Sharing with third parties
We share data only with carefully selected processors: our payment provider, shipping carrier, hosting provider, and — with your consent — analytics services. Data processing agreements are in place with all of them. We do not sell your data.
Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the respective purpose or required by statutory retention periods (order and invoice data generally ten years under the CO). After that, it is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in Switzerland, the FDPIC; in the EU/EEA, your local data protection authority).
You can exercise these rights informally by email to privacy@wetmyplants.ch. To process your request, we may ask for additional details to verify your identity.
International data transfers
Where we process data outside Switzerland or the EEA (e.g. with hosting or analytics providers), we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses (SCCs) as appropriate safeguards.
